Music in Our Schools

Somehow in my youth, I came across an incredible variety of songs.  In honor of Music in Our Schools Month, here are the lyrics to a song, off-the-beaten track.  It is from one of my many Petula Clark albums, retrieved from Bleecker Street.  This was used in a 1969-version of the sentimental school-based film, Goodbye, Mr. Chips

Fill the World With Love

In the morning of my life I shall look to the sunrise.
At a moment in my life when the world is new.
And the blessing I shall ask is that God will grant me,
To be brave and strong and true,
And to fill the world with love my whole life through.

(Chorus)
And to fill the world with love
And to fill the world with love
And to fill the world with love my whole life through

(Chorus)

In the evening of my life I shall look to the sunset,
At a moment in my life when the night is due.
And the question I shall ask only I can answer.
Was I brave and strong and true?
Did I fill the world with love my whole life through?

(Chorus)

It has the added benefit of being sung by one of my favorite songstresses.

And because Black History Month overlaps with Music in Our Schools Month, here is my autograph from the lovely Lena Horne.
A final thought, "Without music, life would be a mistake."  And don't even think about life "without music in our schools"!
