Animal School: The Seven Commandments of Some Charter Ed. Deformers
Animal School: The Seven Commandments of Some Charter Ed. Deformers
1. Whatever is public is an enemy.
2. Whatever is private is a friend.
3. No student shall wear anything but a uniform.
4. No student shall talk in the corridors.
5. No students shall fail to blindly adhere to all rules (including SLANT and frivolous, ritualistic chanting).
6. No student shall have poor test performance, learning or language disabilities.
7. All students are equal.
In this brave new world of educational deformity, it may be that only Napoleon and the bureaucratic "Squealers," calculating such things as V.A.M., will profit.
"...Squealer told them that the pigs had to expend enormous labours every day, upon mysterious things called 'files,' 'reports,' 'minutes,' and 'memoranda.' These were large sheets of paper which had to be closely covered with writing and as soon as they were covered they were burnt in the furnace. This was of the highest importance for the welfare of the farm, Squealer said. But still, neither pigs nor dogs produced any food by their own labour; and there were very many of them, and their appetites were always good." (From George Orwell's Animal Farm)
