Charter School (Based on "Penny Lane" by Lennon-McCarney)

Charter School (Based on Penny Lane)

Top of Form

Bottom of Form

In Charter School there is a teacher showing answer keys
Of every test he's had the pleasure to know
And all the students that come and go
Stop and say hello

In the corner is a student with some special needs
The school's CEO laughs at him behind his back
And the student never gets a chance; he's sent down the drain
Very strange

Charter School is in my ears and in my eyes
There beneath the smoky, clouded skies
I sit and meanwhile back

In Charter School there is a financier with a pocketbook
And in his wallet is a portrait of Bill Gates
He likes to keep his pocketbook green
It's a green machine

Charter School is in my ears and in my eyes
full of it and outright lies
In summer meanwhile back

In the shelter with no job security or pension
A poor teacher is selling poppies from a tray
And though she feels as if she's in a play
She is anyway

Charter School, the CEO boots another student
We see the Test Co. sitting waiting for a raise
And the financier rushes in starting to complain
Very strange

Charter School is in my ears and in my eyes
There beneath the smoky, clouded skies
I sit and meanwhile back

Charter School is in my ears and in my eyes
There beneath the smoky, clouded skies
Charter School
